Mrs Aishah Ndanusa Ahmad is the Deputy Governor for Financial System Stability (FSS) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She oversees five strategic departments including Banking Supervision, Financial Policy & Regulation, Payments System Management, Other Financial Institutions Supervision and Consumer Protection. Mrs Ahmad is a member of the CBN Governing Board, Monetary Policy Committee, and the Committee of Governors. She chairs the boards of Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) and the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC). She is executive board committee member of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) and the International Islamic Liquidity Management (IILM).

The first female deputy governor in charge of FSS at the CBN, Mrs Ahmad leverages over 27 years of policymaking, investment management and financial industry experience, having worked at the intersection of both private markets and public policy. Nominated in 2017, she has been credited with bringing dynamism, strong academic & professional qualifications, and a varied private sector career in finance to her role as Deputy Governor, FSS. Mrs Ahmad has helped institute policies to strengthen the legal, regulatory, and prudential framework which have supported growth in credit to the real sector, enabled financial inclusion, enhanced payment system efficacy and preserved resilience of the Nigerian financial system. Notably, working with the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance & Other Financial Institutions, she was actively involved in the passing of the Banks & Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA 2020) which last amended in 1991.

Prior to her appointment to the CBN, Mrs Ahmad was an accomplished banker, investment and financial advisor and corporate executive. Her career spans executive leadership and technical expert roles at major financial institutions including Diamond Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank (a member of the Standard Bank Group) and NAL Bank Plc. Throughout her financial services career, Mrs Ahmad earned a track record of transforming businesses performance across private wealth management, retail banking and commercial banking franchises. In 2019, she was awarded Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in recognition of her contributions to the banking industry.

Mrs Ahmad holds the globally respected Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) professional qualifications. She is an INSEAD Certified Board Director and a life member of the Nigerian Institute of Directors. She has earned executive policy credentials from Harvard Kennedy School US in the areas of Trade Policy, Economic Development, Cybersecurity Policy, and Leadership. She holds an MSc. in Finance and Management from Cranfield University School of Management, UK an MBA (Finance) from the University of Lagos and a bachelor’s degree (second class upper) in Accounting from the University of Abuja. Mrs Ahmad is passionate about financial inclusion, gender equality, youth empowerment and protecting the rights of children. She has been recognized for her contributions to institutionalizing gender and mentorship initiatives, particularly creating leadership opportunities for women at the CBN. She volunteers at SOS Children’s Villages International, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and Women in Management Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ).

An indigene of Bida, Niger State, Aishah N. Ahmad, 46, is married with children.

Chibuzo A. Efobi is a professional with diverse levels of work experience in local and international financial institutions before joining the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the apex regulator for Nigerian financial institutions.

His work experience covers Change Management, Business & Quality Assurance, Project Management, IT Operations, Investment and Securities Services, Relationship Management, Credit, Treasury and Regulatory Policy formulation/implementation for Banks and other Financial Institutions.

He has served as the Programme Manager for notable initiatives anchored by the CBN, including Repositioning the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX), Global Standing Instruction (GSI), the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) Policy, as well as the Redesigned Credit Risk Management System (CRMS). As a member of the Technical Working Group, he played a key role in the development and launch of Nigeria’s Central Bank Digital Currency, the eNaira.

Mr. Efobi was the Group Head, Policy and Regulation Division of the Financial Policy and Regulation Department before his appointment as Director of the Department in August 2021. On September 05, 2023, he was appointed a Non-Executive Director on the NCX Board to replace Dr. (Mrs) Angela Sere-Ejembi who retired from the CBN on July 09, 2023

Philip Yila Yusuf is Director, Development Finance Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria. In this role he is responsible for the supply of finance to various sectors of the economy that would promote growth.

Yila was the pioneer Managing Director of the National Microfinance Bank in 2019. Prior to his start with the NMFB, he was Deputy Director of IT operations and Program Management at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Before joining CBN in June 2011, Yila was the General Manager operations at Oando Plc an indigenous integrated oil company and was responsible for oil trading, supply & distribution, logistics and Engineering. He was also at Habib Nigeria Bank in various roles.

Yila is a graduate of Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and holds a Masters in Global Banking & Finance from King’s College, London. He is an Alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School. He serves on the Board of Bank of Industry (BOI), Nigerian Export Import Bank (NEXIM), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Nigeria Incentive Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) PLC and Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF), Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation and Nigeria Electric Stabilization Limited, Critical Infrastructure Investment Fund and Nigeria Commodity Exchange.
