Field Visits to NCX’s Demand and Supply Partners: Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC and ThriveAgric

The Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX), as part of its revitalisation efforts to provide an organised market for buyers and sellers of agricultural commodities in Nigeria, had engagements with key stakeholders in the agricultural ecosystem to ensure the successful commencement of its trading activities.

Prior to executing the Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) with these stakeholders, the NCX embarked on courtesy visits to the production centres of these stakeholders. The visits entailed warehouse site inspection to examine their management procedures and understand their production processes.

Field Visits to NCX’s Partners: SGS Inspection Services Nigeria Limited

The Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) paid a courtesy visit to SGS Inspection Services Nigeria Limited, Lagos a world-leading testing, inspection, and certification company to discuss and leverage its experience in quality assurance services and warehouse management. Also, with the collaboration of SGS Nigeria, the NCX intends to play an active role in enhancing trade and exportation activities of agro-commodities with optimum quality and standards.

The Exchange’s collaboration with SGS Nigeria will further provide the necessary guidance and support in the testing and certification of NCX-traded commodities as well as building capacity for NCX’s testing and assaying laboratories.

Strategic Partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP)

The World Food Programme Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works Initiative (WFP NGCO) in collaboration with the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) aims to support 50,000 smallholder farmers specifically youths and women in the northeast and northwest of Nigeria for the cultivation of sorghum and millet. The World Food Programme (WFP) partnered with the NCX to support smallholder farmers in the improvement in post-harvest management operations. The project objective is focused on strengthening the commodity value chain systems to promote increased value chain employment opportunities, especially for women and youth.

International Women’s Day Celebrations

NCX joined the global campaign to celebrate the social, economic, and cultural achievements of women. The day marked a call to action for accelerating gender parity while embracing gender equality.

Field Visits to NCX’s Partners: Harvestfield Industries Limited

As part of the efforts to promote the production and supply of high-quality commodity-based industrial raw materials for use by local manufacturers in the country and for export purposes, the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) partnered with Harvestfield Industries Limited (HIL) for improved synergy. Harvestfield Industries Limited is focused on the importation, production and distribution of agrochemicals and agricultural spraying equipment used in the crop production value chain. In addition, Harvestfield Industries Limited constructed a new plant with warehouses for stock preservation, local processing and export markets at the Ogun state industrial layout, Mowe. The Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX) visited Harvestfield facilities to further strengthen collaborations.
